The Artful Journey of Chitakshi: A Tale of Passion and Purpose

"Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life." — Pablo Picasso

In the quiet streets of Chandigarh, where the gentle rustle of leaves mingles with the hum of city life, a young girl was watching her mother paint. It was here, amidst the vibrant hues of her childhood home, that Chitakshi's artistic journey began. Her mother’s brushstrokes, the soft blend of colors, and the quiet patience of creation were etched into her heart. This nurturing space, steeped in warmth and creativity, became the canvas of her dreams.

Born and raised in Chandigarh, Chitakshi’s life has been anything but ordinary. As a child, she absorbed the creative spirit around her, growing up in an environment where art and music was not just a hobby but a way of life. It was her mother’s influence that planted the seed of artistry within her. Yet, like a well-rooted tree, Chitakshi’s artistic vision took time to fully bloom.

"I was always experimenting," she says with a glint of nostalgia in her eyes. "From architecture to charcoal sketching, I’ve explored every medium I could get my hands on."

Chitakshi pursued architecture, another creative pursuit deeply intertwined with her love for history and archeology. She completed her education with a Master's in Management from Lancaster University, which later brought her back to Chandigarh to practice as an architect. Yet, amidst blueprints and building designs, her heart always sought the open canvas, where creativity knew no boundaries.

She fondly recalls her love for sketching, with charcoal being her favorite medium. “There’s something raw and primal about charcoal—it feels like it captures the soul of whatever it touches.” Chitakshi’s journey has been one of constant exploration, an unquenchable thirst for knowledge and expression. Whether it was delving into the ancient histories of world architecture or the subtle artistry of gardening, her mind was always buzzing with ideas, waiting to be transformed into art.

But like every great story, Chitakshi’s had a turning point. It was on a trip to Goa, where the balmy breezes and salty air brought her a moment of clarity. Visiting a dear friend who owned an art Gallery, she was struck by inspiration. "It was as if I had been waiting for this moment all my life. I realized I wasn’t just an artist—I could be a professional one," she smiles. This epiphany gave birth to Tela Art Company, her e-commerce platform showcasing original handmade wall art.

Tela Art Company was more than just a business; it became a lifeline. After stepping back from work to raise her children, Chitakshi found herself yearning for a creative outlet. Life had thrown its share of emotional turmoil—most significantly, the passing of her father in 2021, which left a deep scar. Art became her balm, her refuge. It was through Tela Art Company that her creations could finally reach an audience, offering a glimpse into the soul of an artist who had found a way to express her most profound emotions.
